Perched on a cliff around 45 meters above the ocean, Waldorf Astoria Monarch Beach Resort & Club offers an experience radically different from Beverly Hills’ urban hotels. The expansive estate combines gardens, pools, terraces, and Pacific views in the atmosphere of a grand coastal residence. A shuttle regularly connects the hotel to the Monarch Bay Beach Club, reserved for guests and members.

The resort features 400 rooms and suites, all with a private terrace or patio. Higher categories favor views of the Pacific, gardens, or the golf course, while penthouse suites add large terraces, reception areas, and, in some cases, outdoor fireplaces. The interiors use a bright, coastal palette inspired by Southern California.

Dining spans several distinct venues, including Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak for meats and seafood, AVEO Table + Bar overlooking the ocean, 33°North for cocktails and sunsets, and the Monarch Bay Beach Club restaurant right on the shoreline. Sombra Cantina, Club 19, and Part + Parcel round out an especially extensive offering.

The leisure offering is exceptional: three pools, the Waldorf Astoria Spa, fitness and group classes, the beach, surfing and kayaking, as well as Monarch Beach Golf Links, a Robert Trent Jones Jr.-designed course with ocean views.
