Kona Village occupies the protected shores of Kahuwai Bay, in a remarkable landscape where black lava, coconut palms and the Pacific meet. The reconstruction deliberately preserved the spirit of the original resort: no large hotel building, but independent hale topped with traditional roofs and scattered throughout the property like a true village.
The 150 hale and kauhale range from secluded bungalows to vast multi-bedroom residences with private pools. Natural materials, artisanal furnishings, expansive lanais and details inspired by local heritage give the accommodations a deeply Hawaiian identity, without falling into the thematic imitation of a traditional resort.
Asaya Spa transposes Rosewood’s wellness concept into an environment very open to nature, with outdoor treatment rooms and rituals drawing notably on lomi lomi and heated volcanic stones. The recovery spaces combine hot and cold baths, sauna and hammam, while the entire program seeks to connect treatments to the natural rhythms of Big Island.
The resort also accords significant importance to the culture and history of the site, while Kahuwai Bay allows a gentle approach to marine activities.
