The historic complex comprises the former convent wing, with its cloisters, vaulted passages, and religious vestiges, as well as a Liberty-style wing added in 1896 during its transformation into a grand hotel. Located in close proximity to Corso Umberto and Taormina’s historic center, the property enjoys spectacular views of the bay, Mount Etna, and the Sicilian coastline. It currently holds three Michelin Keys, the highest hotel distinction from the Michelin Guide.

The hotel comprises 111 rooms and suites, divided between 68 rooms and 43 suites across the two historic wings. The accommodations combine contemporary lines, natural materials, Mediterranean colors, restored frescoes, and preserved elements from the former convent. Depending on their category, they offer views of the gardens, the Ionian Sea, Mount Etna, or Taormina’s ancient theater. Several suites feature expansive terraces, separate living areas, whirlpool baths, or small private pools facing the sea, notably the Studio Suites and Executive Suites with plunge pools.

The outdoor spaces are organized around Italian gardens, historic courtyards, and a spectacular 21-meter infinity pool set at the edge of the cliff. The Botanica Spa includes five treatment rooms, a heated indoor pool with whirlpool, as well as separate saunas and steam baths for men and women. The treatments draw inspiration from the plants, flowers, and citrus fruits cultivated in the estate’s gardens. A modern fitness center completes this offering dedicated to rest and wellness.

Gastronomy represents another major signature of the San Domenico Palace. Led by chef Massimo Mantarro, the Principe Cerami restaurant offers a contemporary interpretation of Sicilian cuisine and holds one star in the Michelin Guide Italy 2026. Its terrace overlooks the Bay of Taormina and Mount Etna, while its cellar brings together over one thousand references. Anciovi celebrates fish, seafood, and Mediterranean flavors near the pool, while Rosso revisits Italian culinary traditions.
