Mexico, from the Capital to the Caribbean

Mexico City Stop 1
Playa del Carmen Stop 2
Introduction

From Aztec Treasures to Caribbean Turquoise Waters

From the historic districts of Mexico City to the palm-fringed beaches of the Riviera Maya, this itinerary combines two completely different facets of Mexico. The journey begins in the heart of one of the world's largest capitals, amidst pre-Hispanic heritage, colonial architecture, major museums, and gastronomy, before reaching the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

Mexico City offers a particularly rich cultural introduction. The Zócalo, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, the Roma and Condesa districts, and the Frida Kahlo Museum allow visitors to explore different periods of Mexican history. Near the capital, the impressive pyramids of Teotihuacán also offer a spectacular excursion.

After a few urban days, there's a complete change of atmosphere with a flight to the Yucatán Peninsula. Based in Playa del Carmen for the entire second part of the trip, travelers have an ideal base to discover the Riviera Maya without multiplying hotel changes.

Tulum, the cenotes, Akumal, Chichén Itzá, Valladolid, and Cozumel Island can be explored on day trips, while still allowing enough time to enjoy the beaches, resorts, and the relaxed pace of the Mexican Caribbean.

Mexico City — History, Flavors & Mexican Culture

3 jours

Built on the remains of the ancient Aztec capital Tenochtitlán, Mexico City is today a fascinating metropolis where several centuries of history are superimposed. The historic center gathers palaces, cathedrals, and pre-Hispanic vestiges around the immense Zócalo, while numerous districts reveal a contemporary capital, creative and deeply attached to its culture.

The city also boasts some of Latin America's most important museums and an exceptional gastronomic scene, ranging from markets and street tacos to international fine dining.

A short stay allows visitors to discover its main facets while optionally including an excursion to the archaeological site of Teotihuacán.

Riviera Maya — Cenotes, Temples & Caribbean Sea

6 jours

Located in the heart of the Riviera Maya, Playa del Carmen is a particularly convenient base for exploring the Caribbean coast and the interior of the Yucatán Peninsula. Cancún is to the north, Tulum to the south, while Cozumel is directly accessible by ferry from Playa del Carmen.

This central position primarily allows guests to stay in the same hotel throughout their visit. Days can thus naturally alternate between cultural excursions, nature discovery, and moments of relaxation by the sea.

The Mayan ruins of Tulum directly overlook the turquoise waters of the Caribbean, while the region's numerous cenotes allow for swimming in natural pools formed within the Yucatán's limestone subsoil. Further afield, Chichén Itzá offers an unmissable excursion to discover one of the great cities of the Mayan world.

The sea also plays a central role: snorkeling with turtles in Akumal, crossing to Cozumel, catamaran trips, or simply days on the beaches of the Riviera Maya allow the program to be adapted to each traveler's pace.

Mexico: History & Caribbean Charm

This journey brings together, in just a few days, two worlds that perfectly illustrate Mexico's richness. Mexico City first reveals a country deeply marked by its history, from pre-Hispanic civilizations to the colonial period and the cultural effervescence of the contemporary capital.

Then, a few hours' flight is enough to completely change the scenery. On the Riviera Maya, the capital's avenues disappear in favor of white sandy beaches, the Yucatán jungle, and the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.

However, the region allows for continued cultural discovery: the temples of Tulum and Chichén Itzá recall the importance of the Mayan civilization, while Valladolid, the cenotes, and local communities offer a chance to explore a Yucatán far different from just the seaside resorts.
