Why choose this journey

Mandarin Oriental, Milan is ideal for travellers who wish to stay in the heart of the Lombard capital without sacrificing peace, quiet and privacy. La Scala, the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, Brera and the boutiques of Via Montenapoleone are all within easy walking distance, making this address particularly well suited to cultural, gastronomic or shopping stays. Design enthusiasts will appreciate Antonio Citterio’s interiors and the suites paying tribute to Fornasetti and Gio Ponti. The 900 m² spa and indoor pool offer a true haven of relaxation after a day in the city, while Seta is one of Milan’s standout gastronomic experiences. Connecting rooms and multi-bedroom suites also make it possible to accommodate families in complete comfort.

The Mandarin Oriental, Milan occupies four interconnected 18th-century buildings on discreet Via Andegari, just a few steps from La Scala, Via Montenapoleone and the Fashion Quadrilateral. Opened in 2015, the hotel notably incorporates Palazzo Confalonieri, once an aristocratic residence, then the headquarters of the municipal tax administration and a bank. The restoration led by ACPV Architects Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel blends Milanese architecture, contemporary lines and Oriental touches around several inner courtyards, including the central garden, which has become one of the property’s signature spaces.

The property has 104 rooms and suites, divided between 68 rooms and 36 suites and junior suites. Each accommodation features a different layout, with views over the inner courtyards, rooftops or the surrounding historic streets. Interiors designed by Antonio Citterio favour oak parquet flooring, wood panelling, bespoke Italian-made furniture, neutral colours and spacious marble bathrooms. The most prestigious categories include the Fornasetti Suite, decorated with original pieces by the Milanese creator, the Designer Suite inspired by Gio Ponti, and the 150 m² Presidential Suite, featuring a private kitchen, dining room and a hammam integrated into its bathroom. Several rooms and suites can be connected to accommodate families or groups.

The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Milan spans 900 m² and draws on the five elements of feng shui philosophy: fire, earth, wood, metal and water. It includes six treatment rooms, including two double cabins, a room dedicated to Thai massage and a Spa Suite with a private vitality pool. A heated indoor pool, a Technogym-equipped fitness centre, saunas, steam baths, a beauty studio and a hair salon complete the facilities. Treatments combine Mandarin Oriental’s signature protocols with brands such as Subtle Energies, Biologique Recherche and 111Skin.

Gastronomy is led by chef Antonio Guida. The Seta restaurant holds two Michelin stars and offers contemporary Italian cuisine enriched by Mediterranean, French and Asian influences. Meals are served in a glass-walled dining room, in a planted courtyard during the warmer months, or at the Chef’s Table open to the kitchens. More relaxed, the Mandarin Garden accompanies the different moments of the day with Italian and Milanese specialities, sharing plates, signature cocktails, aperitivo, music and lively evenings. Mandarin Oriental, Milan also holds two Michelin Keys, a distinction awarded to stays considered exceptional.
