Why choose this journey

Park Hyatt Tokyo is designed for travellers seeking a truly iconic address, combining architecture, cinema, panoramic views and exceptional luxury service. Its renovation has modernised the rooms and facilities without erasing the residential, calm and slightly mysterious atmosphere that made its reputation. Couples will appreciate the night views, panoramic bathrooms, cocktails at the New York Bar and treatments at Club On The Park, while food lovers can enjoy several very different restaurants without leaving the tower. The rooms are also among the most spacious in this Tokyo selection. Its location in western Shinjuku is less convenient than a hotel directly connected to a major station, even though a complimentary shuttle regularly runs to Shinjuku Station. Above all, it is an excellent choice for a full hotel experience in its own right, rather than simply as a functional base for exploring Tokyo.

The Park Hyatt Tokyo occupies the top fourteen levels, from the 39th to the 52nd floor, of the Shinjuku Park Tower, an architectural complex designed by Kenzo Tange. Opened in 1994 as the first Park Hyatt hotel in Asia, it overlooks western Shinjuku in an atmosphere that is surprisingly calm. Its glass atriums, vistas over Tokyo and possible views of Mount Fuji have helped make it one of the capital’s most recognisable addresses, also immortalised by the film Lost in Translation.

Following its renovation led by the Paris studio Jouin Manku, the hotel offers 171 rooms, including 29 suites, designed as true panoramic residences. The new rooms combine fluid forms, warm materials, bespoke furniture, contemporary Japanese artworks and preserved references to John Morford’s original décor. Categories start at 45 m², while Deluxe rooms reach 55 m², and the larger suites feature living rooms, dining rooms, deep soaking tubs and views over Tokyo or Mount Fuji.

The Club On The Park spans the 45th and 47th floors and brings together around 2,100 m² dedicated to sport and wellbeing. Its centrepiece is a 20-metre indoor pool set beneath a vast glass atrium, with panoramic views over the skyline. The spa includes seven treatment rooms, including a private suite, as well as hot and cold baths, dry and wet saunas, marble whirlpools and relaxation areas. The Technogym-equipped fitness centre also enjoys spectacular views.

Dining retains the addresses that built the hotel’s reputation while introducing new concepts. The New York Grill & Bar, on the 52nd floor, combines American cuisine, jazz and 360-degree views. Kozue offers a contemporary interpretation of Japanese kaiseki, while The Peak Lounge & Bar occupies an atrium planted with bamboo. The renovation also introduced Girandole by Alain Ducasse, a contemporary French brasserie led in Tokyo by chef Kojiro Tsutsumi.
