Founded in 1844, the Baur au Lac occupies one of Zurich’s most prestigious addresses, within a private park bordering the lake. Still managed by the founding family, the establishment offers beautiful views of Lake Zurich and the Alps, while being just a few steps from Bürkliplatz, Bahnhofstrasse, and the Old Town. Its atmosphere combines historical heritage, discreet hospitality, and contemporary elegance.

The hotel features 119 rooms and suites, including 27 Junior Suites and 18 suites. Each accommodation has an individual design combining custom furniture, classic references, Art Deco influences, and contemporary details. Depending on their location, rooms overlook the park, the city, the lake, or the mountains, while some categories offer a private balcony and generous living spaces.

Gastronomy revolves around Marguita, dedicated to Mediterranean flavors and extended by a terrace opening onto the garden, as well as Baur’s Brasserie & Bar, which reinterprets international classics in an elegant setting. The Hall, considered Zurich’s living room, welcomes guests for a light meal, a cocktail, or a traditional afternoon tea. Marguita holds 15 GaultMillau points, while Baur’s Brasserie has 14.

The Baur au Lac does not have a swimming pool or traditional spa, but offers a panoramic fitness center on the top floor, equipped with Technogym and Woodway machines facing the lake and the Alps. Coaching sessions, in-room training, massages, and physiotherapy treatments can also be arranged. This intimate approach complements an experience primarily focused on service, gastronomy, heritage, and the hotel’s exceptional location.
