Beijing — In the Heart of Imperial China

3 jours

China’s capital for several centuries, Beijing concentrates an exceptional share of the country’s historical heritage. Imperial palaces, monumental temples, gardens, and old neighborhoods trace the thread of Chinese history from the great dynasties to the contemporary capital.

The Forbidden City forms the city’s symbolic heart, facing the immense Tian’anmen Square. Farther south, the Temple of Heaven reflects the architectural sophistication of imperial China, while the hutongs reveal a more intimate atmosphere through narrow lanes, traditional courtyards, and small houses.

Beijing is also the ideal base for discovering the Great Wall of China. An excursion to Mutianyu allows you to explore one of its best-preserved sections, surrounded by mountains and spectacular scenery.

Shanghai embodies one of the most spectacular faces of contemporary China. Separated by the Huangpu River, the Bund and its historic façades face Pudong’s futuristic towers in an architectural contrast that has become emblematic of the city.

Yet Shanghai is not limited to its skyline. The lanes of the former French Concession, the Yu Garden, traditional houses, and old neighborhoods reveal a more intimate city where Chinese and Western influences have met for generations.

The metropolis is also an excellent base for discovering the region’s more traditional landscapes, notably the ancient water towns crisscrossed by canals and stone bridges.

Hong Kong — Between Bay, Peaks & Lights

3 jours

Perched between mountains and sea, Hong Kong boasts one of the world’s most spectacular urban landscapes. The towers of Hong Kong Island are reflected in the waters of Victoria Harbour opposite Kowloon, while the Peak overlooks the entire bay.

Yet the city offers far more than its skyline. Temples, traditional markets, old commercial districts, and night markets reveal a deeply Chinese culture, while historic ferries, trams, and traces of the British era bear witness to its distinctive history.

Hong Kong also surprises with its proximity to nature. Islands, beaches, mountains, and trails make it possible to leave the urban districts very quickly and add a more peaceful dimension to this final stop.
